Current Situation of Liquid Crystal Materials in the Domestic Industry

After more than ten years of efforts, the production of liquid crystal materials in China has gradually formed a considerable scale industry, transforming from complete imports to partial exports, with an annual sales volume of about 12 tons. Although it has developed rapidly, its share in the world LCD material market is very small and still cannot keep up with the needs of the world LCD development. Although the development and research of LCD materials in China has been ongoing since the early 1970s, due to limitations in the overall technical equipment level and investment funds of the domestic LCD industry, the LCD industry has not been included in key scientific and technological research projects by the state. The serious shortage of research funds and talent has limited the development of the industry. So far, the research and development of liquid crystal display devices and materials are mainly focused on TN type and mid to low grade STN type. In terms of LCD displays alone, in the early 1990s, with the introduction of dozens of LCD production lines in China, LCD technology research and development work led by the Changchun Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Nanjing 55th Institute of Electronics, Tsinghua University, and Shenzhen Tianma Microelectronics Company was able to be carried out. However, its research topics mainly focused on TN-LCD, STN-LCD production related technologies, and a few basic TFT-LCD topics. In terms of liquid crystal materials, due to limitations in the overall technical equipment level of the domestic LCD industry, although many scientific research units have invested in the research and development of liquid crystal displays or materials, in addition to some breakthrough achievements in the synthesis of perfluorobenzyne based liquid crystal compounds by the Shanghai Institute of Organic Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, there is a significant gap compared to foreign countries in the development and application research of new materials. Especially in the research and development of STN and TFT-LCD supporting liquid crystal materials, the progress is very slow, at least eight to ten years behind Japan, Germany, and the United States, making China lack competitiveness in the global liquid crystal display industry market. At present, there are relatively few varieties of mid to high end products in China, which cannot meet the demand of the domestic market. There is an urgent need to increase research and development efforts, especially for STN-LCD liquid crystal materials. The domestic market has shown a demand state and urgently needs to be occupied as soon as possible; Medium to high-end liquid crystal materials have high technological content, and their prices and profits are relatively high.
What are the application areas of liquid crystal display technology?
Many, many, many. Let's put it this way. Wherever a display is needed, LCD technology can be used,
Such as computers, communication, industrial control, home entertainment, advertising, instrumentation, etc
What industries are LCD splicing screens mainly used in?
The service life of the LCD splicing screen can reach over 50000 hours. The LCD splicing screen is widely used in information display terminals in transportation industries such as airports, ports, docks, subways, highways, dispatch, control rooms, broadcasting and television, large-scale broadcasting/performance venues, military, * *, urban and other emergency command systems, and other places!
Advantages of LCD splicing screen:
1. Long service life;
2. Low maintenance cost, long fault free time, and low maintenance cost;
3. High resolution, bright graphics, ultra-thin and lightweight.
